The goods are allocated to certain groups: at national level this classification incorporates the type/nature of goods and their intended use (broad economic categories, with reference to the national accounts). On the other hand, the SITC (Standard International Trade Classification) nomenclature of goods is used for international comparisons.
Gold, silver and coins
Following the decision of the Federal Council, the Federal Customs Administration provides statistical data on Swiss foreign trade in gold, silver and coins broken down by country of origin and destination as follows:
Data starting from 2012
The monthly country-based data starting from 2012 can be found separately in the publicly accessible Swiss-Impex database. Gold bullion is classified under tariff heading 7108.1200 and consists of both mined gold and refined gold – without the possibility of distinguishing between them.
Historical data (1982-2013)
The annual country-based data is available here for the period 1982-2013.
