With Via, the PSVA can be paid quickly, easily and independently for vehicles such as motorhomes or coaches registered outside Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein before entering the country.
In Switzerland, a lump-sum heavy vehicle charge (PSVA) is levied for certain types of vehicle with a total weight of more than 3.5 tonnes. This mainly concerns heavy motorhomes and coaches, but also, for example, circus motor vehicles or tractors. Until now, the PSVA has been levied on foreign vehicles exclusively using printed forms. Settlement could only be made at designated border crossings and only occasionally outside of office hours. It was imperative to stop at the border without a valid proof of payment.
The Via app makes it possible for foreign drivers to quickly and easily record and pay the PSVA. This can be done at any time and from any location.
Drivers entering with a means of transport registered outside Switzerland and which is subject to the PSVA, such as a motorhome or coach with a total weight of more than 3.5 tonnes.
Vehicles registered in Switzerland are not affected by the change. The cantonal driver and vehicle licensing offices continue to collect the PSVA for these vehicles.
Persons entering Switzerland are no longer obliged to use a particular border crossing and no longer have to stop at the border to pay the PSVA. This reduces time and effort for users. Via also reduces the workload for FCA staff.
