With the LSVA III project, the existing system for levying the mileage-related heavy vehicle charge (LSVA II) domestically will be renewed. Thanks to the new LSVA III, the previously necessary manual steps for all participants will be reduced to a minimum.
Status and outlook
The LSVA III project is being implemented. In future, private providers are to levy the LSVA in Switzerland. They will have to undergo an approval procedure in order to do so. The charge is collected by the FCA. The LSVA amount is calculated by combining the weight and the number of axles. The weight of the tractor unit and the number of axles on the trailer unit are decisive.
The development of the IT and control system, as well as the provision of a solution for foreign vehicles without their own on-board unit are planned for 2020. Project completion is scheduled for the end of 2024, when the current system (LSVA II) will no longer be available (end of life). The project is managed using agile methodology.
Object and purpose
In the new LSVA III system, tasks that do not belong to the core competence of the FCA will be outsourced to private providers. The corresponding processes will be automated. The new solution will be developed in such a way that it can be adapted to changing conditions or new legislation.
